Sorry it's been a while since I last posted. It's been a couple of crazy weeks, because the school year is ending in about a month. Here in Japan, there are three semesters a year, April-July, August-November, and December-March. The kids (and teachers) get about 3 weeks off between the middle of March and the beginning of April before the new school year begins. This is also the time that we have to renew our teaching contracts! Yipes! So I've been having observations from my mentor teachers, reports to write, and meetings to attend.
Yet somehow, I managed to put together a photorial! This is a style for wearing a pashmina. It can be light or heavy, and is comfortable for women with fine or delicate hair, because it puts almost no weight at all on the head. I recommend it for winter/fall because it requires the scarf being wrapped around the neck, and I think in the summer it would be too cumbersome. It's also very easy and takes almost no time at all to do!
Put the pashmina over your head, so you have a short end and a long end. Exactly how long you want it is up to you.
Bring the two folded ends together, and put one end over the other (it doesn't matter which side)
Use a safety pin (pictured is a no-snag pin) to secure the two ends. I have pinned it on the outside, but you can pin it on the inside if you want. Make sure it is under your chin, but not tight.
Bring the long end in front of your neck, and wrap it around. Make sure it is smooth around the sides of your face.
Now at this point, if you want lots of coverage in the front, you can leave both ends hanging down, or bring the long end up and pin it to your shoulder. If you don't need a lot of front coverage, then:
Get two straight pins like the one above. Pull the scarf a little back from your face, and secure it on the side with the pins.
