The Fashion Project

A project for the fashion-conscious, modern, modest woman. A low-tech, unprofessional photographic exploration of life's changes as we come to accept the path we are meant to take, and what we wear along the way.

Sweet Looks (Sweet as in Awesome Cool)

Posted by Unknown |

Since I'm American, and at the tail end of Gen-X (or is it Gen-Y? Who knows anymore...) I like to use "sweet" instead of "cool" and "awesome" instead of "neat." Also, I really hate the new slang "sick" to mean "sweet." By the way, who thinks up this crap? Not to let out my inner English major too much, but since when do any of these words have the same meaning?

Regardless.... I've been collecting some photos recently to give me inspiration for amping up my look, and making it more edgy. And looking cutting edge is all about two things- 1) Finding the right piece, and 2) Knowing when to DIY and when to buy.

Here are a couple photos to illustrate what I mean. I think these photos really showcase how the combination of pieces, the DIY element VS the store-bought elements, and the casual cool exuded by each model really brings together an edgy, interesting look. I am particularly attracted to outfits that show a complete disregard for fixed "styles" by bringing together elements from many different looks, and make them work together in a new way.
