Criss Cross Photorial

Posted by Unknown |

So, finally, I have taken, edited, and uploaded a series of photos to explain how to wrap the "criss cross" style I inadequately explained before. I hope it helps! (Let me know if you do it, and if so, share some pictures!)

In case you missed the previous post, the criss-cross looks like this!

To begin:

Wrap the scarf over your head, with a short end and a long end. The short end should be just long enough to pin at the nape of the neck, but not much longer than that.

After pinning the scarf at the nape of your neck, bring the long end around the back of your neck and over your shoulder. The short end should be on top.

Grab the short end, the "bottom" being the end closest to your ear. Wrap the bottom to the front of your forehead, angling it from the ear forward, so it meets the end of the eyebrow or so. The end of the scarf should just go to the bottom of your ear.

Pin the end just below the ear. If you are fortunate enough not to wear glasses, then it can be pinned higher than that. If you are like me though, and do wear glasses, make sure you pin it below the ear so it doesn't interfere with them.

Next, grab the long end. Again, the "bottom" is the side in my hand in the picture. This is the side that will go across the front. If you are using a printed scarf, the "bright" side of the print should be facing down, so when you bring the scarf over the top of your head, it's facing up. If it isn't, don't worry, just turn the scarf as you put it over your head. It will get covered up later.

Bring the scarf over your head. You can choose to angle the edge to mirror the first angled part, or like I have done, you can bring it straight across.

Pin the scarf at the bottom of your ear. Again, if you don't wear glasses you can pin it up a little higher if you want, but I like the pin to the close to the jaw line, because it's more comfortable when you bring the scarf around the throat.

Now bring the scarf around your throat, making it as snug as you like. Keeping the edge in your hand, bring it around the top of your head.

Pin the end you have brought over at the top. This will keep it from slipping down and exposing your throat.

Depending on the length of your scarf, you might now have a short end remaining. I chose to leave it, but you can fold it and pin it, or pin it with an accessory or brooch.

Now it's time to add an accessory!

When I do this style, I like to place the accessory at the point where the three crosses meet on the right side. But of course, you can put it anywhere you want.

View of the finished right side.

View of the finished left side. I think the loose end looks fine!

Close-up of the top.

And voila! Finished! :)
