Rant #1: Laptop, how I loathe thee....

Hello again, it's been a long time since I last posted, which was a desperate post after not posting for a long time! I'm sure I'm losing my audience here, but this time I couldn't help it. My laptop has been progressively dying for the last month, getting slower and slower, until finally it was totally unusable. Mainly, the internet wouldn't load, even though my parents have a very nice wireless internet connection. In fact, at its worst, I opened the page to load You Tube, went and took a shower, came back and got dressed, and it still hadn't loaded! Unbelievable, right? It wasn't even that bad in Bangladesh.

So, my second brother (who is an engineer) wiped the computer and put Windows 7 on it. It was great for exactly 4 days. Then it became slower than before, so that we couldn't load Yahoo Mail for 30 minutes! Even the computer processes were slow, loading My Computer or any pictures or other documents. My husband and I were so fed up, we decided to use the original recovery disk and put Vista back on it. This transfer was successful and the computer was super fast, except for one thing. The wireless Ethernet driver wasn't being recognized! So we had a computer, but no internet! We could plug it directly into the modem and it would work, but otherwise the driver was busted.

So, I invited my brother to have another look at it. Turns out, the disk I used to upload Vista wasn't the recovery disk after all, it was an upgrade disk! So essentially what my husband and I did was put a Vista upgrade on top of Windows 7! You can only imagine the destruction that ensued. So now we are going to put Windows 7 back on it, in our last final attempt to salvage the damn thing before we have to throw it off a building and buy a new one.


Suffice it to say, I haven't had any of my pictures loaded this entire time, they are all safely on a jump disk waiting to be reinstalled once the computer stops giving us all a heart attack.
