The Fashion Project

A project for the fashion-conscious, modern, modest woman. A low-tech, unprofessional photographic exploration of life's changes as we come to accept the path we are meant to take, and what we wear along the way.

Day Four: Date Night

Posted by Unknown |

Ah, Date Night. My husband and I are what you would call an unpredictable and spontaneous couple. We might make plans to do something, such as choose a restaurant and maybe even make reservations. But 8 times out of 10, we get in the car or go to the train station, and our imaginations take us somewhere completely unexpected. That is why, on our dates, I have to be prepared for anything.

My husband's style is very urban and metrosexual, so it takes some work for me to keep up with his cool. Most of the time, I end up looking a bit like the frumpy sister rather than the stunning wife (ha) so I've been collecting some pieces that work for an "in the city" rock style. Of course, jeans and black Converse are the base, then I added in the Barbie t-shirt. I actually wanted it because it was polka dotted, and the fact that it says Barbie in pink cursive letters was actually more of a deterrent than an attraction. But then I thought, just because I'm not 19 anymore doesn't mean I can't incorporate something tweeny in my look. Also, it came with a plastic necklace that says Barbie in pink sparkles! I finished it off with the Maysaa chiffon snood, which is a hijab alternative I really love because it literally goes with any look. With this outfit, it's urban cool, but you can wear it with a business suit, or pin it up with an elegant dress.

I am literally running for the camera here, because I forgot to put it on the timer. But it turned out to be an interesting shot, so I went with it!
