Makeup Most Wanted

Posted by Unknown |

Lately I am obsessed with makeup. I don't know what it is about it lately, but I can't seem to stop myself from spending hours online looking up reviews, products, and new brands. After a lot of sifting, I have compiled my Top Brands Most Wanted and the items I am most wanting to purchase from them. In the future, I am hoping to expand this blog to include some makeup product reviews, new products I've found, and possibly even some tutorials.

If you have tried any of these products, leave a comment and let me know what you thought! Or if you know of something better, comment about that too!

#1: Urban Decay
http://www.urbandecay.com/

As any makeup junkie knows, Urban Decay is basically the best brand out there for funky, trendy colors and products that work toward the hip city girl in all of us. It is also quite expensive, so unfortunately it is unlikely that I'll be purchasing it. But a girl can dream, so here is what I most want to buy from Urban Decay:

Eye shadow primer in the XL size $23. If you are like me and have a serious problem with eye shadow creasing and fading, this product is said to be a wonder.

Sustainable Shadow Box $36. 10 shades of shadow including basic neutrals and some more fun evening colors like the purple and the teal, this box offers a bit of everything, and it's environmentally friendly too.

Eye Shadow Ammo Box $38. If I could only choose one, it would be this one. An array of bright and subtle shades, including three of my favorites (the dark pink, the black, and the gold), this box has everything a girl could want, and the box is pretty.

#2: NYX
http://www.nyxcosmetics.com/

A cheaper, but not inferior, alternative is NYX. I've read a lot of reviews and seen a lot of tutorials of this brand, and 95% of them say that the makeup is extremely good. Some makeup artists even say that the NYX eye shadows are sometimes mistaken for MAC by their customers. I like the layout of the website, and especially, I like their affordable palettes. Here are my most wanted products from NYX:

HD Eye shadow Base $7. For a fraction of the cost of UD, there is NYX's version of the primer potion. The reviews say it works just as well, but I'll be doing my own reviews later.

Winter in Moscow Palette $25. 14 metallic eye colors, 5 lip colors, and 2 blushes complete this set. With pinks, grays, blues, and greens, this set has something for every eye color and taste, provided you like a sultry, smoky look.

Nude on Nude Palette $25. NYX's version of the Naked palette, this set includes 20 eye colors and 10 lip colors ranging from golds and blues to pinks and reds. It is extremely portable and comes with the lip brush and eye shadow sponges. Perfect for business trips or short vacations.

Doll Eye Mascara $9. Available in volumizing, lengthening, or waterproof, this mascara promises doll quality fluffy eye lashes. I saw a tutorial with this mascara, and it looked pretty fabulous. I want it in volumizing.

I had never heard of this U.K.-based company before I read about it on Sara Hassan's makeup blog, but from what I've heard, the stuff is good. (The only downside- $13.50 for international shipping. Ouch!) The eye shadows and lipsticks are highly pigmented for excellent color coverage, and all their products are easy on the wallet. This summer they have a special edition set, featuring an eye shadow palette, a blush, and a lip gloss. It might be a little difficult to imagine how these shades work together, but if you visit their website, the front page has an exotic representation of the look, and it is very summer-tastic! I want the whole set:

I-Divine Palette in Monaco $10.50. 12 complementary shades inspired by the Mediterranean, including light and dark blues, golds and browns, and peaches and pinks. Just the thing for your beach vacation.

Pout Polish in Monte Carlo $6.50. What looks purpley actually comes out a lavender-pink on the lips, a very exotic shade that certainly screams "vacation."

Blush in Santorini $6.50. Adds a flush to the cheeks that mimics the sun and surf. Now you don't have to spend hours in the sun to get that summer glow.

Nailed in Royalty and Millionaire $6. This polish isn't part of the advertised set, but I think these two shades go perfectly with the Monaco collection.

5-Piece Brush Set $7.50. Sleek doesn't have an eye shadow base, so instead I found another product I desperately need- an inexpensive but quality brush set. For those of us without the funds to buy professional brushes one at a time, here is an affordable beginners set that is small enough to carry in your purse, clearly labeled for beginners, and priced very reasonably.
